Cosmetic Products with SPF

November 2, 2009 by Jo

A recent report has concluded that daily cosmetic products with UV filters may not be effective as they do not contain adequate skin care protection from the sun.

Researchers tested 35 cosmetic products and found 7 did not contain sufficient  UVA protection and therfore comply with current regulations – less than half had sufficient protection without needing to be reapplied.

Daily cosmetic products such as foundations, powder, primers are often either not containing the SPF they state or fail to give the instructions that it is need to be reapplied.

The most important conclusion from the report is that the majority of products do not reach the current standards in terms of UVA protection and photostability and consumers should be aware of this.
