The Lost Dog’s Home was founded in 1910 and is located in North Melbourne. It has grown to be the largest animal shelter in Australia and provides a wide range of animal welfare and community services.

The Lost Dog’s Home is the voice of Australia’s unwanted, stray and lost dogs and cats. They play a crucial role in education and in promoting responsible ownership of pets.

The National Pet register offers free pet ID tags so lost animals can be easily identified and also offers a micro chipping service.

The National Pet Register provides a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year recovery hotline (ph.1300 734 738). When your pet is found missing, the finder can call this number and quote either your pet’s unique ID tag number or microchip number.

Hard to believe but only 20% of animals that find themselves in the animal shelter have identification – so do yourself and your pet a favour!
